Painting by Henry Bouvet representing a view of the port of Marseille. 
Born in this city, Henri Marius Camille Bouvet, known as Henry Bouvet (1859-1945), was familiar with the maritime atmosphere of the south of France.
Trained at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Lyon, he continued his training in Paris in the workshops of Eugène Carrière and Alfred Roll. His work, presented at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900, received a Bronze Medal. He painted many seascapes and liked to exercise his sensitivity to the effects of light, his style is impressionistic. He also likes more intimate scenes, bourgeois interiors and portraits.
