Pair of Italian carved marble busts, circa 1850

A pair 19th century (1850s) (Grand Tour) Italian carved multi-marble busts of Augustus of Prima Porta and Julius Cesar. These extremely fine and detailed busts display a richly carved marble armor with wonderful intricacy. These powerful and large-scale bust are made from the finest quality marbles available in the 1850's. The heads are made from impeccably carved white Carrara marble, and the chests are fully hand-carved marble depicting armor breastplate siting on rouge marble bases.
