Painting by Paul Désiré Trouillebert titled Washerwomen by the river

Paul Désiré Trouillebert. Born in Paris 1829 / Died in Paris 1900 -Painter of genre, figures, nudes, portraits, landscapes -Student of Hébert and Jallabert, Paul Désiré TROUILLEBERT began his career as a portraitist, But his encounter with Corot so converted him to landscape painting that from then on, he lived exclusively in the orbit of the Ville-d'Avray master, focusing his research almost exclusively on plein air and atmospheric rendering - Paul Désiré TROUILLEBERT was frankly inspired all his life by the same themes as Corot: watersides in the morning and at sunset, ponds in the countryside, trees and woods are all subjects that never cease to seduce him - With a brush that lacks neither lightness nor transparency, Paul Désiré TROUILLEBERT applies himself to translating, in the gray range of his elder, the luminous and atmospheric values of nature - His paintings were a great success with the public and retain a constant appeal -Paul Désiré TROUILLEBERT exhibited at the Salon from 1865 onwards.
