Angelo Mangiarotti

Angelo Mangiarotti (1921-2012) was an Italian architect, designer and sculptor. Born in Milan, he studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano where he graduated in 1948. He began his career working for the architect Gio Ponti before establishing his own architecture and design studio in 1953.

During his career, Mangiarotti designed buildings, furniture and design objects. He was known for his minimalist, functionalist and sustainable approach, and often used materials such as stone, marble, wood and glass in his designs.

Among his most famous architectural achievements are the Palazzo dei Congressi in the city of Mantua and the San Carlo Borromeo Chapel in Milan. In the field of design, Mangiarotti has designed many iconic objects, such as the Eros table for Agape, the Giogali floor lamp for Vistosi and the Incisioni vase for Venini.

Mangiarotti has received numerous awards and honors for his work over the years, including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in 1955 and 1960. His legacy in the world of architecture and design is considered important, and his creations are exhibited in museums around the world.
