Giancarlo Piretti

Giancarlo Piretti (1940-) is an Italian industrial designer, best known for his functional and ergonomic furniture designs. He began his career in the 1960s and is still active today.

Piretti worked for major Italian furniture companies such as Castelli and Anonima Castelli, and was noted for his design of folding chairs, which were widely used in public spaces such as conference rooms and classrooms.

His designs were often characterized by their simplicity and functionality, as well as their use of lightweight and durable materials such as aluminum and plastic. He has also been involved in the design of several interior architecture projects, including health care facilities and universities.

Piretti has won several awards for his work, including the Compasso d'Oro award in 1969, 1979 and 1987, and his designs are now considered collector's items and are exhibited in museums and galleries around the world.
