Lucien Genin

Born on November 9, 1894, in Rouen / Died in 1953 in Paris.
Painter of urban landscapes, gouache painter, watercolorist, pastel artist, draftsman, post-impressionist.

Lucien Génin first studied at the School of Fine Arts in Rouen, and in 1919 he was admitted to the School of Decorative Arts in Paris. In 1932, Lucien Génin was awarded a prize by the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1960, a solo exhibition of his works was organized in Paris. He painted in oil and gouache.

Lucien Génin received a very thorough artistic education, but he developed his own personal technique marked by spontaneity and an innocent view of the simple things in life. While he mainly painted scenes of Paris, some views of Rouen, Lorient, Dinan, Marseille, and Villefranche-sur-Mer are also noteworthy. Génin fully specialized in the highly sought-after theme of Parisian cityscapes. His rapid, effortless brushstrokes resulted in a highly prolific body of work.
