Medici vase

Appearing in the inventories of the Italian Medici family in the late 16th century, the Medicis vase is a gimposing antique marble vase measuring 68.11 inches. Quickly becoming a garden staple, this vase is shaped like a crater with two ringed handles and a surface decorated with a bas-relief depicting Iphigenia at the consultation of the Greek army leaders at Delphi.

A hundred times copied, a hundred times integrated into the decorations of classical paintings, the vase knows a second life in modern times, produced this time not in marble but in terra cotta or cast iron.
