Robert Charroy
Robert Charroy (1906-1992) was a French industrial designer, who was active mainly in the 1940s and 1950s. He is best known for his functional furniture designs, inspired by the modern design of the time.
Charroy worked for many French furniture companies, including Meubles TV, Les Ateliers Saint-Sabin, Les Huchers-Minvielle and Les Ateliers de la Concorde. He was also one of the founders of the Société des Artistes Décorateurs (SAD), an organization that promotes art and design in France.
His designs were often characterized by their simplicity and functionality, as well as their innovative use of materials such as wood and metal. He has also been involved in the design of several interior architecture projects, including hotels, stores and restaurants.
Charroy received several awards for his work, including the gold medal at the Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques in Paris in 1937 and the gold medal at the Milan Triennial in 1951. His creations are now considered collector's items.
