Suzanne Ramié
Behind the name Suzanne Ramié (1905-1974) is actually the acronym Madoura for Maison Douly - her maiden name - and Ramié her married name. A name intimately linked to the development of the artist's ceramics.
Trained at the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Lyon, Suzanne Ramié first worked as a textile designer in Lyon, in a city that was totally turned by tradition into this production. However, it was in the south of France, in Vallauris, that she finally settled. After being introduced to ceramics by Jean-Baptiste Chiapello, she opened her own workshop, thus giving life to the famous Madoura workshop.
