Tobia Scarpa
Tobia Scarpa (born 1935) is an Italian architect and designer, known for his work in the fields of architecture, furniture and lighting. He graduated from the IUAV University of Venice in 1960.
Early in his career, Scarpa worked with his father, the famous architect Carlo Scarpa. Together they designed iconic buildings such as the Canoviano Museum in Possagno, Italy.
During the 1960s and 1970s, Scarpa began working in the design field, creating furniture and lighting for Italian manufacturers such as Flos, Cassina and Knoll International. He is also known for his collaborations with the famous Italian ceramic brand, Gabbianelli.
Scarpa's style is often characterized by a minimalist and elegant approach, as well as the use of high quality materials such as glass, metal and leather.
