Important screen, Louis XV style

Important screen, Louis XV style, gilded wood, silk, gold and silver.

Evoking a luxuriant and pristine nature, the flora overflows the silk to invade the frame. This screen of exceptional quality seems to belong on a wall as well as on the floor. Its silk, with its floral motif, is enhanced with gold and silver threads.
Its gilded wooden frame in its original gilding is fully carved. The head of the angel stands out beautifully and each petal of the iris is carved.
It is an admirable example of what the nineteenth century was able to produce as a piece of Louis XV style by the knowledge, unequalled then and since, of its craftsmen.
