Edith Davidson portrait

Edith Davidson has always loved antiques. She arrived at the flea market by chance to replace a friend who was going on vacation and asked her to replace her during the month of August. She discovered a fabulous universe which decided her to take a store at the flea market.

In this same store, she met a Scottish antique dealer who spent a lot of time with her. And as he was not buying her anything, she ended up thinking that it was for her that he was coming. "It all ended in marriage," says Edith Davidson.

Since then, after specializing in English furniture, she has evolved her choices by following fashion to offer quality objects that draw on the history of the 18th and 19th centuries, also making forays into contemporary furniture.

Painting on oak panel, signed lower left Cornelius Willaerts (1600-1666) and dated. C Willaerts 1643.
The chaste goddess Diana, discovers the pregnancy of Callisto. Diana points an accusing finger at the guilty and orders her followers to undress her in order to control her pregnancy. The unfortunate woman struggles with shame, trying to flee.

Cornelis Willaerts painted the female body with great finesse, his style is full of softness and is related to the Mannerist movement that spread throughout Europe.
