Claude Galle (Attributed to) - French Empire Period Pair of Chiseled Gilt Bronze Candlesticks

A superb and decorative pair of candlesticks in finely chased and gilded bronze, decorated with three faces of women in the Antique style, the shafts with cut sides simulating the body and ending in feet resting on a circular base.

Our pair of candlesticks is an authentic French Empire Style, circa 1805-1810 and is attributed to Claude Galle. Our candlesticks are to be compared with the model of candlesticks delivered in 1804 by Claude Galle for the Palace of Fontainebleau, it is described « as 2 pairs of three-headed candlesticks ». It is related to a drawing illustrated in H. Ottomeyer/ P. Proschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, p. 326, fig. 5.1.6.
